[ The Archer ] Week 3: Should Men Really Tuck Undershirts into Underwear ?

Tucking Undershirts into Underwear - A Study

One often overlooked aspect of men's attire is the proper layering of undergarments. Many men simply let their undershirt hang loose. However, tucking your undershirt into your underwear can have several benefits if you so choose.

Warning - method does not work without a shirt over the undershirt and underwear as that risks underwear waistbands becoming visible (i.e. tucking a button-down directly into underwear).

Streamlined Silhouette

Tucking your undershirt, crew neck or a-shirt, into your underwear creates a streamlined silhouette, giving a more polished fit. Notably eliminating any bunching or bulging that may occur when the undershirt is left untucked.

Also after visiting the men's room, tucking becomes much easier with a secured undershirt allowing only one piece to be tucked versus fumbling with two garments requiring tucking.

Prevents Undershirt from Riding Up

Untucked undershirts tend to ride up throughout the day, becoming visible and creating a messy appearance. By tucking into your underwear, you can prevent from riding up and ensure it stays neatly in place. Importantly, this negates the constant need to readjust your undershirt.

Enhances Layering

This tucking method provides a smoother base for additional layers, ensuring that each garment lies flat. Whether you're wearing a dress shirt, sweater, or blazer, a tucked-in undershirt creates a clean foundation for layering. And increases likelihood of repeat wear of the outer layer due to undershirt lying against skin oils & sweat.
